Daily Bible Reading – August 2021: God’s Word of Promise預覽
August 3
Introduction
The book of Exodus provides an account of two key events in Israel’s history—the departure of the Israelites from Egypt where they had been slaves, and God giving Moses (the man chosen by God to lead the people out of Egypt) and the people the Ten Commandments and the laws to guide them in how to worship and live together as God’s people. Upon leaving Egypt, the Israelites journeyed in the desert region of Sinai for a period of forty years before arriving in Canaan, the land God had promised to their ancestors. Today’s reading is the concluding chapter to the book of Exodus and provides instructions given to Moses for setting up and dedicating the Tent of the LORD’s Presence.
Today’s Scripture Reading
Exodus 40:1-38
Today’s Key Verse: Exodus 40:16
Moses did everything just as the LORD had commanded.
Reflect
What instructions was Moses given for setting up the Tent? What objects were to be placed in the Tent? What instructions were given for Aaron (Moses’s brother) and his sons? What was the sign of the LORD’s presence? During their wanderings, when were the Israelites allowed to move their camp to another place? How was the Tent dedicated? What is the significance or importance of dedicating houses of worship and sacred objects today?
Pray
Holy God, may I sense your presence, guiding me in all I do today. Teach me to heed your commands, and may all my words and actions reflect my reverence for you. Amen.
Prayer Concern
Houses of worship being dedicated
Tomorrow’s Reading
Deuteronomy 1:1-33: Moses delivers his first speech to the Israelites who are preparing to enter the Promised Land.
