Grasp the Moment by Rocky Fleming
DAY FIVE
Scripture:
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
Thought:
Jesus spoke those words above to a large number of people who likely felt they needed to claw and scratch through life to provide for their families and life. Think about the audience? There were no governmental programs such as Social Security, retirement plans, or disability plans. There were no unions or civil rights laws. They would feel that only the strong survive, the weak get stepped on, and no one would give them anything free of charge. But here was Jesus rewriting the rules of life as they knew them, and making amazing claims that told them they didn’t have to worry about those things they were giving their life to. He was telling them there was a better way for them if they would take it. Would they claim the treasure He was giving them? Would they take a step in faith to seek Him and His Kingdom above all other things and by doing so gain Him and the world at the same time? It was a promise from Jesus to be grasped, but it would require their faith to embrace it.
Application:
So, how are you doing with seeking first the Kingdom of God? Are you really living your life through the grid of trust in God first, or are you letting that be the last thing you do? You might say that you are somewhere between the two extremes. The problem is Jesus tells us that we cannot serve two masters, and our seesaw effort with which master we will serve will fight for leverage over our life. Only one of the two wins our loyalty. So the question is: “Who do you want to win?”
As you interact with the truth of the scripture above, and then apply it to your life in answering my question to you, ask the Father to put a desire in you to allow Him to win your allegiance. Ask Him to make you hungry for His leadership. Ask Him to help you not settle for anything less than His best in your life. Take a moment now to seek your answer from the Holy Spirit through prayer.
Q: What do you think the Holy Spirit said for you to do to see your prayer answered?
Q: What adjustments do you need to make to begin seeking God first?
Response:
Make a commitment now to follow through with any changes that you need to make. When we seek the Lord for His wisdom and help, we must be obedient when He impresses on us our next steps. Obedience leads to the blessing God has in store for us. It starts there.
關於此計劃
We all know our mission is to bring glory to God. But do we also understand that it is our mission as followers of Christ to “enjoy Him … forever?” When was the last time you simply enjoyed God? Let's interact with our King over the next few days and let Him teach us how to grasp the moment with Him.
