Can’t Feel Anything Different!

When you are born again, you become brand new! “Well, I don’t really feel new, ” you may say.

So here is the thing: When you place your faith in Jesus, you become new on the inside, regardless of your feelings.

Remember your feelings are not driving your life anymore, but God is. There may be times when you "feel" that God is close to you, and other times you don’t. But know that He has promised to always be with you and never leave you, regardless of your feelings. (Hebrew 13:5)

As a child of God, you've got to learn to live by faith and not by what you feel. (2 Corinthians 5:7)

Pig and sheep

Also, it doesn’t mean that the ‘New You’ will not make any mistakes, but it means that you are forgiven of all your past mistakes and now, your goal is to live the life God wants for you, which is way better than what you see in the world.

Take the case of a pig and a sheep. The pig loves and enjoys the muck because that’s its nature. But a sheep is uncomfortable in the dirt. It cannot enjoy the dirt like the pig because it’s not in its nature.

The pig nature is the “Old You”, whereas, the sheep is the “New Transformed You” in Christ. A sheep (New You) will not deliberately go searching for muck (sin) but could be tricked into or fall unintentionally in it. But sooner or later, it feels uncomfortable and would want to get out of it quickly.

A father who doesn’t condemn

And mind you, don't entertain condemning thoughts if you make a mistake! Just get up and run to Him with all your strength, and ask forgiveness with a clear heart (1 John 1:9). He is a good Father God who loves you and will correct you, but He will never condemn you.

The best-known picture of God as a father is seen in the story of the spendthrift son (Luke 15:11-32). Here, the son runs away from his home and spends all his money on wrong things. When he realizes his mistake, he returns home expecting shame and condemnation from his father. Instead, we see a father who expectantly awaits the return of his son each day, and upon seeing him return, he runs to him, hugs him, and gives him a new ring and robe.

Never forget this picture of the father’s love for you!

Irrespective of how your earthly father is, and irrespective of your feelings, God loves you unconditionally and longs for you.
