A 7-Day Truth Talk預覽
I don’t know what your struggle is, but mine was fear. Fear of change. Fear of tragedy. Fear of hurt. Fear of teaching Bible to ladies or even children. Fear of the unknown. Fear of the uncomfortable. Fear of stepping out in faith. You get it . . . fear . . . F-E-A-R—in caps! I could go on and on! And my guess is, that since you have chosen this plan to read, you, too, might be experiencing something in your life that is holding you back, something keeping you from stepping out in faith and thus seeing God work in your life.
One thing I know for sure is this problem of “entangling encumbrances” has many of us lugging around heavy emotional baggage. We are not alone in this problem. Over the last ten years, I have spent lots of time mentoring, counseling and talking with women, helping them sort out, at times, complicated lives. The practice of speaking the truth of Scripture is the answer to many of the problems described to me.
In Deuteronomy 32:45–47, Moses told the people, “Take to your heart all the words with which I am warning you today, which you shall command your sons to observe carefully, even all the words of this law. For it is not an idle word for you; indeed it is your life. And by this word you will prolong your days in the land, which you are about to cross the Jordan to possess.” (my emphasis)
Moses had come to the end of his earthly journey. Joshua was now going to lead the Israelites. But Moses had a few things he wanted to be sure his people knew. He wanted them to know that God’s Word is not empty but has power to give life. The Word provides sustenance, maintenance, and nourishment. The Word of God is alive and active.
Sadly, many Christians today ignore one of God’s most precious gifts to us: His Word! We read magazines, listen to the radio, watch endless hours of TV, but often spend only seconds per day thinking about Jesus.
Let’s make today different. Let’s spend time daily seeing what God’s Word has to say. It is a powerful tool when employed. Indeed it is your life! Today, when you are ready to settle for baggage-hauling, why not speak the truth of God’s Word to yourself instead?
