Jesus: The Man Who Changed History預覽
When we see the order and beauty of the world and the human body, or think about what it means to be human, or grieve at the suffering and uncertainty we see in the world, it forces us to ask these questions:
Does God really exist or did we just make him up ourselves? If God exists, why is the world so full of injustice? Is there any meaning to life?
Think about the god you are asking that question to.
What is that god like?
The Bible claims that there is a God - and he is the One who, in generous love, created the universe we live in and each of us.
The Christian claim is that we can know what God is like by looking at Jesus Christ.
Is there anything that puzzles or intrigues you about Jesus?
We want to give you the opportunity to encounter the real Jesus. That’s why we are going to work our way through one book of the Bible, Mark’s Gospel.
Mark was a friend and companion of Peter, who was one of Jesus’ closest friends.
Peter died about 30 years after Jesus died. The evidence tells us that Mark wrote his book around then.
Some people criticize Christianity. They say:
“It is a list of rules.”
“It is about going to church and pretending to be a good person.”
“It’s a western religion.”
“It is boring.”
According to the opening line of Mark, what is Christianity all about?
Mark 1:1
“The beginning of the gospel about Jesus Christ, the Son of God.”
Christianity is the “gospel” – the good news about a person, Jesus Christ.
Christianity is about Christ – a title that means “God’s only chosen King”.
Christianity isn’t a fairy-tale but is, at its heart, the true story about a real person.
Mark’s design in writing the first part of his book is to prompt the question: “Who is Jesus?”.
He begins to show his readers that there is good news in Jesus Christ. And in a world full of ‘fake news’, we need good news more than ever.
