Learning How to Hear: A 6 Day Journey of Drowning Out the Noise and Hearing From God預覽
Fill Your Waterpots!
If we are honest, what percentage of our prayers are in the spirit of God coming and fixing all of our problems while we sit and watch? Ah…yes, we must be careful not to be caught on our knees praying “lazy man” prayers. Jesus delights to include us in the process. He wants us to be a part of our own miracle by walking in obedience and then watching Him work in the midst of our faith.
In John 2, Mary gives us great instruction in how to handle the problems and needs we are facing, “Whatever He [Jesus] says to you, do it.”
What is striking about the water to wine story is that Jesus solicits the participation of the people. All we really see Jesus doing is giving instructions and the people acting in quick obedience. He says “fill the waterpots,” so they made the trek to the water source, lugged the water back and “filled the waterpots to the brim.” It didn’t matter how utterly ridiculous they thought the solution to the problem was…they did it anyway.
Jesus then says “draw some out and take it to the master of the feast.” Nowhere in scripture does it say they tasted the wine to check on the miracle first. In the midst of the obedience and faith of the servants Jesus did his work. When it was presented to the master of the feast he was amazed by the wine and the reputation of the bridegroom was not only preserved but honored.
Jesus has solutions to our problems and needs, He is the answer, but are we listening to how He is instructing us? In a season where so many people have insurmountable problems and needs would the people of God be solution bringers. Would we be so in tune to His voice and so full of faith that when Jesus is directing us we would move despite our hesitations.
Life Application: Let us be people who are willing to fill waterpots to the brim in faith that Jesus will do amazing miracles as we walk in obedience to His voice.
Prayer: Jesus, what do You want me to do in the midst of the problems I am facing? What would You say, what action can I take?
