Lessons ~ The Transfiguration預覽
Conformed to the Image of Jesus
Peter, James and John witnessed the glory of Moses and Elijah. They also witnessed the Glory of Jesus.
The prophetic word was revealed and the prophets ministered, which others received, passing it on to many. All of this was through the inspiration and empowerment of the Holy Spirit. God was revealing His purpose to generations through the Holy Spirit (I Peter 1:12).
Peter, as he wrote to his audience and to us, was sure of the prophetic word because he along with James and John were eye witnesses of the glory of God (II Peter 1:16). Peter is therefore able to connect with his audience with great conviction and confidence, for he knows that what he is sharing is not a cunningly devised fable, but prophecy that came by the will of God through the movement of the Holy Spirit (II Peter 1:16-21).
This has to be the same with us, for Jesus has come on earth and manifested to us the glory of the Father (John 1:14). As we read scripture, we meet Jesus and we come face to face with His glory. We cannot say that we do not have the experience of Peter, James and John. Every time we read scripture, it ought to be an experience of the revelation of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.
We therefore need to share the prophetic word with joy and confidence, for we are witnesses of His glory and we too are being transformed into the same image of Jesus, from glory to glory (II Corinthians 3:18).
Let us never forget that we share the prophetic word to people in order to reconcile them back into the marriage covenant/love relationship with God.
Thought to ponder
