WHAT AM I DOING HERE?
The Great Commission
Day 3
I’ve heard it said that religion is a personal matter and needs to be kept to ourselves.
Part of that I wholeheartedly agree with. My faith is very personal to me. I hope it is to you as well.
But our faith in the saving grace of Jesus is not to be kept to ourselves. Jesus, in fact, commands us to share the good news, to go tell it on the mountain, over the hills and everywhere. To go and make disciples of all the nations.
Isn't it amazing that we can actually play a role in God's incredible story that is yet to be fully told? Not that we don't know how the story ends, but we sure don't know all of the details in between. What if one of the major seed-planters in God's story is you? How will you ever know unless you do as you are commanded to do?
So start sharing the good news! God will give you the words to say. Just be prepared to give an answer for the hope that is within you.
When you do share the good news, be a believer who first loves others as you do yourself. Be that light that stands out. I don’t know anybody who wants to listen, much less respond, to an angry loud-mouthed, hot-headed, self-righteous, so-called Christian. I hate it that those adjectives are so often attributed to so many who claim to be followers of Jesus.
Let us show our family, our friends, our neighbors, and co-workers, and all those with whom we encounter WHOSE WE ARE by our love. Like the classic hymn says, they will know we are Christians by our love.
It is my belief that when we do our best to live a life of love and forgiveness, DIVINE APPOINTMENTS TO SHARE ABOUT JESUS WILL COME TO US.
I stepped out of my comfort zone to chase a dream. It was hard, but not nearly as difficult or as uncomfortable as it is to step out of my comfort zone and share Jesus with others.
Why? Once again, because of the enemy we face, an enemy who will do everything in his power to keep us from growing, knowing, and sharing the love of Christ. But, remember: we can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens us.
Step out in faith and do what you were called to do!
What are we doing here? In the core of our spirit, I think we know the answer to that question. Today is the day to respond.
