Rise Up & Stand Firm—A Study of 1 Peter (Part 3)預覽
Finally, All of You …
Let’s dive into Scripture today!
Pray:
Holy Spirit, I need Your help. Please guide me, fill me, and teach me.
Today’s Goal:
Gain a better understanding of how we can live out God’s love, even when we face opposition.
Study Tip:
Remember to scan over your study notes so that you can see how each new passage ties into the bigger picture.
Read and Write:
Before you read 1 Peter 3:8-12, take a moment to remember the subjects covered at the end of 1 Peter 2 through 3:1-7. Peter has been urging the early Christian exiles to live holy and reverent Christlike lives before all people—their pagan neighbors, government leaders, slave owners, and within their homes.
Now consider the first four words of 1 Peter 3:8: “Finally, all of you …” Take notes on what you observe.
- What are the Christ followers told not to do? Why is this the best course of action?
- Notice that verses 10-12 are in quotes. Peter is quoting directly from Psalm 34:12-16. What does the Psalmist tell us to pursue? Why is this important?
- What does this text say about the prayers (or cries for help) of the righteous (the Christian)?
Reflect:
- What five qualities are Christians urged to have? Which one do you most need to grow in?
Apply:
- Based on today’s lesson, what action will you take?
