 Day 4: Let us Seek

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.” The first and most basic level of prayer that Jesus talks about is “ask.”

The second level of prayer that Jesus mentions is “seek.” This is the middle level: to seek that which we long to reach. To ask creates a passive attitude. I ask and then sit and wait for them to give it to me. To seek is an active attitude. It implies work, effort, there is an initiative. To seek is to pray, asking that his will be revealed in our lives; to start deciding on the direction of your plans.

All of the great men of God were characterized by a profound search for his presence. To know his plan and his purpose requires a search. We cannot remain at only asking.

Jeremiah the prophet says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart,” for our search for God must be with intensity.

But what things are we to search for in prayer? What should be our objective?

First of all we can say that we are to seek the face of God. This is a way of invitation to know him in intimacy, to know his character, to discover his gaze and what interests him.

We are to be those that not only seek HIS HAND (ask) but also HIS FACE. We are to discover that God sent his son not only to save us, but so that we would have intimate relationship with him.

We are also meant to seek the will of God. Let us never try to build something on a foundation that God did not create. If those founations do not conform to his Word, we are in danger. Soon our dreams will show their cracks, and, inevitably, all will crumble. The will of God is where God is at.

To see God will be the key to enter into a new level of intimacy with him.

Enter the level where God tells you his plans and purposes. “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends.” Enter the level where there is friendship with God! Don’t stay on the surface!
