One of the marks of powerful people is that they proactively establish practices and build relationships that help to renew the vision of their identity and calling and remind them of who they are. When two people establish a vision in their relationship, they share the knowledge of one another’s identity and calling as well as their joint vision. They remind each other of these things on a regular basis. So when difficulty, pain, and loss come up, the pillar of vision strengthens the relational connection and protects it from being thrown into survival mode.

• In times of disagreement or conflict, are you still able to see who the other person truly is, the way God sees him or her? Can you still see his or her calling and identity?
• How can you proactively establish practices that will help renew your vision and remind the other person in your relationship of who he or she is in good times as well as the rough ones?
