FCA: The Relentless Devotional For Competitors预览
Allegiance
Rex Stump
READY:
“Anyone who is not with Me is against Me, and anyone who does not gather with Me scatters.”—Matthew 12:30
SET:
Sport fans can go overboard with how they act, cheer and support their teams: tailgating parties, jerseys, ball caps, money spent on banners, memorabilia and tickets. We pick colors based on our favorite teams, and our moods reflect whether our team won or lost. Our allegiance to our sports teams is very clear.
When it comes to spiritual allegiance, Jesus made it very clear that we either stand with Him or against Him. There are people who say they follow Christ, yet they seem to be more loyal to wrong than right. There are many who claim allegiance to God, and yet they wear the morality of the world.
Not too long ago I was sitting in my chair in my living room having a cup of coffee. I wasn’t paying attention, and I set my cup of coffee halfway onto the light stand. Within seconds, my cup tilted and fell onto the floor, leaving a huge coffee stain on the carpet. What a mess!
Just like my cup can’t balance on the edge of the table, neither can I balance my life on the edge of morality. Either I’m for God or against God. And when I try riding the fence with God, I’m bound to make a mess of my life. Let’s get off the fence! Make your allegiance to God real and evident. You may come off as a “fanatic” to some, but your allegiance to God is an encouragement to many.
GO:
- If a stranger were to step into your life, would they know who you cheer for?
- Can others tell by your actions and behaviors that your allegiance is for God?
WORKOUT:
Joshua 24:15
1 Kings 18:20-21
Hebrews 13:14-16
OVERTIME:
Heavenly Father, I choose today to stand for You. I devote my allegiance to You. Give me the strength to wear Your colors and proclaim You as my God!
