Day 2 – A Step of Obedience
“Obedience” can sometimes be an unsettling word because it forces us to relinquish control and trust someone who sees farther than we do.
Abraham understood firsthand what it meant to take a step of obedience. When God called him to leave his land, He simply said, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you” (Genesis 12:1-4). He had no detailed coordinates—only God’s word. In the same way, Joshua led Israel across the Jordan by following God’s instructions, without any immediate guarantee that their mission would succeed (Joshua 3:13-17).
True obedience is free from the constant need for proof to ease our insecurities. It stems from absolute trust in the One who makes the promise, rather than the promise itself. Often, God asks for obedience when there are no certainties in sight because He wants to strengthen our trust in Him over our reliance on circumstances.
Here are some practical tips to help you live out obedience today:
- Write down clearly what you sense God is asking of you and reread it regularly.
- Share this calling with a trusted friend so you can receive support and encouragement.
- Set a concrete deadline for taking that step, instead of putting it off indefinitely.
Remember, every step of obedience opens doors you never imagined possible. God always rewards those who fully trust His Word.
Prayer
Lord, today I choose to respond to Your call with a concrete step of obedience. Help me overcome my fears and resistance, trusting in Your perfect guidance. Give me the strength to act with determination and faith, knowing that each step brings me closer to Your purpose. Amen.
