Meet the Rest of the Team预览
GOD’S BEAUTY TEAM
Over the past few days, we could see that God doesn’t hesitate to mobilize His nature team when He needs us to take Him seriously. But He also wants us to see His gentle artistic side.
I have often wondered why God bothers to use so many colors on the birds and the flowers. Did He make provision for all the fashion combinations that were to become popular for centuries to come? Or does he just want us to know that He enjoys beautiful things?
In Matthew 6, Jesus reminds his disciples of God’s creative character. “And why worry about clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are” (v. 28-29, NLT). And there it is. God wants to show us his love for beautiful things. And He wants us to know that we can never compete with his creations, no matter how extreme we think we go.
By showing Himself as a God of beauty, the Lord also wants to give us an idea of what He is preparing for us in Heaven. In the same way that beautiful things bring us limited joy on earth, his perfect beauty will restore us to experience flawless joy. “The wasteland will rejoice and blossom with spring crocuses. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! .. There the Lord will display his glory, the splendor of our God” (Isaiah 35:1-3, NLT).
How do you feel when you receive a beautiful bunch of flowers from someone you love? Have you ever been surprised at the combinations of colors that the Lord uses together in nature? What does it say about his character?
Let us take time to admire God’s artwork throughout nature. And let us remind ourselves of our beautiful Lord Jesus who is waiting to show us more of Himself each day until we meet Him in person. “The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones - like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow” (Revelation 4:3, NLT).
