LOVE FOUND ME
Love does not seek its own, it lays down its life, it hangs on a cross, it denies itself, it prefers others, it gives itself away - for me.
‘Love Found Me,’ was written about God’s endless pursuit for us. Inspired by Romans 8:39, “Nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God,” this song recognises that in every season He stays the same.
Growing up I always knew there was a God who loved me, but it wasn’t until I’d hit an all-time low that I’d really believe this love. Before this realisation, there was plenty more doubt. I questioned where God was as I felt lost and alone in what felt like a never-ending downward spiral. It wasn’t until I experienced His word, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” Deuteronomy 31:8, that my perspective was changed.
He was always there for me, even through all my questioning and doubt, He never left me. When I felt like I didn’t deserve it, all I had to do was receive it. We see in Psalms 139:7-8 God’s spirit never leaves us, “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.”
We can’t earn God's love, He freely gives Himself away. So how do we respond to God’s love?
He wants our entire heart, our full affection, for you and me to run into His open arms. “We love because He first loved us.” His love beckons a response! How can we position ourselves to receive God’s love and then how can we represent that same love that found us in our brokenness through our lives?
Prayer: God I thank you that you first loved me! And because of that Lord, I run into your arms. I thank you that your love has set my heart on fire. God help me to never forget your love. It is the anchor of my life. Amen.
