Rhythms of Grace

28天中的第22天

You may spend a lot of time with your friends and within your youth group, but how often do you serve with your friends or other people from church? How often do you pray for one another the moment someone needs prayer instead of giving someone the “I’ll pray for you.”? Last week we talked about growing together, but what comes after growing together? No, growing together never ends because we always have room to grow but the fruit of growing together should be evident in going together.

Going together means serving alongside each other and serving one another. Throughout the Bible, there are great examples of “besties” who served each other and served others. While going together is an act of obedience, it can also be challenging. Serving can be challenging because you may not feel equipped or you may fear doing something or doing the wrong thing but God reminds us in Matthew 28 that He has given us the authority to serve others. God also places us in churches and small groups so that we don’t have to be alone when we serve. Even with a Biblical community, serving can still be challenging and that’s because serving requires Jesus’s help. Jesus promises that He will be with us as we go and make disciples of all nations, this is encouragement that shouldn’t be taken lightly. The Savior of the World is for us!

Pray this week that God shows you what serving together in Biblical communities looks like. We weren’t created to serve alone.

Rhythms of Grace

As people who follow Jesus, we are considered to be His disciples. This simply means that - through the Spirit’s power – we are learning to be with Jesus in order to embody His teachings for His mission. Throughout Scripture, we see a variety of ways that Jesus and the people of God have learned to commune with God. Historically these have been referred to, by the Church, as the spiritual disciplines or spiritual rhythms. The purpose of these rhythms are not simply to do them, but to grow in our relationship with Jesus.
