When I Walk in the Dark Shadows预览
Remember that Jesus experienced three hours of darkness and God-forsakenness on the cross and He willingly went through this so we would never be alone in darkness again. On the cross, Jesus cried out: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Jesus experienced loneliness and darkness. Over and above the three hours on the cross, He was in the darkness of the tomb for three days. There He overcame death and rose from the grave. By His resurrection from the dead, He broke the power of sin and the evil one over us. As a result, no darkness can ever separate us from God again.
Darkness is one of the ways in which God refines us. In the dark, He begins to deal with various things in our lives such as a bad temper, hurried words, ill-considered actions and reactions, rebellious thoughts, our love for things and the world, and our attachment to position, money, security, and recognition.
There is a darkness that is much like the darkness of the potter's wheel and the potter's oven (Jer.18:-1-6). After the potter has moulded the clay into the desired object (Rom.9:21), he places it on a shelf to dry. Only when it is completely dry does he put it in the oven. The only way to make the pottery useful is to bake it in the oven, and ovens are always dark and hot. Spiritually speaking, God puts us through the same process.
