What Jesus Said About Fathers and Mothers Causing Spiritual Wounds预览
How to be healed from our wounds (2)
Forgiveness: People suffering from the scars of wounds from a father or mother must carefully consider what happened in their lives and how their parents' behaviour affected them. And then they need to forgive. This may take some time. For some, it will be easier than for others. For some, it will be a short prayer. For others, it may happen over days, months, or even years. Keep forgiving as the Holy Spirit reveals things to you.
Confess your sinful reactions: You are not the one who caused the pain, but all sinful behaviour and reactions are for your account. You choose your response. You have to take responsibility for how you reacted. And that is what you need to confess. It is of utmost importance that you do it. Otherwise, you will develop a lifestyle where you will always try to find and make others responsible for all difficulties in your life, shift the blame for your sins, and not take responsibility for your wrong deeds.
Ask the Holy Spirit to heal and restore you: After you spend time to forgive and confess your sinful reactions, ask the Holy Spirit to heal your emotions. Ask Him to help you to think about yourself as God the Father feels about you.
The right Father image: Ask the Father to show Himself to you. Study his character. Study the character of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Study their works. Ask God, the Trinity, to reveal Himself to you. Because of our parents' limited abilities to “show” us the Father and his character, we must constantly ask the Holy Spirit to reveal more and more of the Father to us. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand how the Father really feels about you, thinks about you, and plans for you.
Some people may need to get help from counsellors and friends.
