TheLionWithin.Us: Upside Down Qualifications for Leadership预览
Others Focused
Let’s face it; the world we live in tells us that we have to look out for number one.
In fact, there are many who believe they should always do what is best for themselves no matter the cost. An interesting concept to consider comes directly from this simple verse in Hebrews. The writer highlights that there is a selection for the leaders; however, that is closely coupled with the expectation of that leader to serve the ones they are responsible for.
This shift in paradigms is the first qualification of a kingdom-minded leader, and it is the starting point that changes everything. Being focused on others is more than just reaching out from time to time to check in with the team. It shows up as relentlessly serving others daily and deprioritizing items specific to personal accolades.
Others focus manifests itself in leadership when the driving factor in the day is serving. As the old adage says, if serving is beneath you, then leadership is beyond you. While that is true, Scripture shows us that when God puts us into positions of leadership, it is our duty to steward that responsibility well. A great way to stay locked in on that mindset is by going all in on serving others.
Questions to Consider
- What would need to be adjusted in your daily mode of operations to put a greater emphasis on serving others?
- When you see leaders with an “others focused” style, what stands out as compared to others?
