Peace Is Your Inheritance预览
Peace Can Be Multiplied
When parents leave an inheritance for their children, I think it is with the hopes not only to take care but also to ensure they have a head start and advantage in life. They would hope to for their children to take what they have been given and multiply it. Jesus also left us with a peace that can be multiplied, how amazing is that? I find it exciting that the peace Jesus gave me will never run out but can go on perpetually. I have noticed as I walk and grow with the Lord the challenges of life continue, the obstacles seem more frequent, and the attacks intensify but, the more I stay planted and grounded in the words and promises of God I also recognize that I can better handle what comes my way.
Growing up in a single-parent home and then later on in an alcoholic home the one thing lacking was peace in the home and peace in my heart. I was plagued with chronic fear from an early age because I never knew what the nights would be like if my parent came home drunk. I would lay awake but pretend to be asleep in hopes to find that peace of heart. My life was tormented from the outside, and that translated to torment on the inside. The home was never happy, and fear ruled! I swore to myself that when I got out of that life, I would never allow myself or my children to experience a home like that.
More than anything in this world because of the life I experienced as a child, maintaining my inner peace is most important. I had to unlearn fear to receive love and be able to give my children what I never had. A happy home is my goal; I work hard for peace because I know what a lack of it can do to young children. I want you to know that a day at the spa or a shopping spree was not the answer to the years of torment I had gone through. I needed more than a getaway and a day at the spa. I needed truth to undo the lies and torment. So I dived deep into the word to discover who Jesus was and what he did for me and slowly my confidence grew in him, and every day I saw a new side of Jesus that is inexhaustible. I look back in hard times, and I see how faithful he was in bringing me through and that knowledge of his faithfulness strengthens me for the next trial, the next storm, the next obstacle. Our peace multiples when we grow in our understanding of who Jesus is.
