The Little Sins预览
Nothing Happens "Just Like That"...
Shall we get to the bottom of these recurring stumbling blocks in your life? Because you know what? Nothing just happens unless we take that step.
You've probably heard the phrase "The root of all evil...". But what is this root in your life? "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many." (Hebrews 12:15 NIV)
I once went to the dentist with a terrible toothache, but he said, "It is not the root of the tooth that hurts you so much. The pain comes from another root; your psyche." It wasn't until I got to the bottom of my problem that my toothache actually disappeared, too!
What root keeps hurting you? You don't "just get jealous all the time." You also don't "just like that" reach for excessive alcohol. Nor did I "just like that" run to the bathroom and stick my finger down my throat.
Before that action, something decisive always happens: "I ate too much." So the question is, what are you trying to compensate for? What void are you trying to fill that could get filled in a different, healthier way?
Similarly with alcohol, what problem seems so intractable that you want to forget about it for that brief moment? Jealousy is a very big issue that ultimately roots: "I still don't know what I'm worth." Get to the bottom of it—and your heart will be fine too!
Ringing a bell? Yes, it does. ALL the answers to these questions are in the Bible, and you have direct access to it, but you have to use it if you really want to become free!
God wants to give you His grace along the way, and He wants to help you find and destroy that pain-causing root. Why? Because He can, and — never forget this — because He loves you!
I have experienced the solution, and that is why I believe with you that, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:32 NIV)
You are a miracle!
