Purify Your Mind Series (Part 1) by Joe Kirby预览
Has God Wooed You?
Warren Wiersbe in his Study Bible writes, “God doesn’t try to force His people to love Him. Instead, He woos" (The Wiersbe Study Bible). Wooing is an old-fashioned term for courtship before marriage, meaning a man seeks to win the affections of a woman and show her that he loves her. God is still wooing people today, seeking that they be married to Him.
Very often we have a negative view of God, that He is some big cruel ogre waiting to dish out judgment, but the God of the Bible is incredibly patient. We later read in Hosea that God “drew them with gentle cords, with bands of love” (Hos. 11:4). May we all feel those gentle cords of love today.
The God of the universe longs for a relationship with you; when we run from Him, His heart aches. Satan would have you in chains to keep you under his rule, but God wants to set you free. If today you feel the love of God whispering in your ear, “Turn back to Me,” do not resist His call. Do not believe the lie from hell that God hates you, for He has loved you with an everlasting love. We often forget that God wants us in heaven more than we want to be in heaven, and if you don’t believe me, just look at the cross. God says you are His bride, so run back to the patient Bridegroom who will never stop loving you.
