Grieving a Failed Relationship预览
Psalm 73:26 says, “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
When someone betrays our trust, talks about us poorly, or no longer wants to be in our lives, we can feel like we don’t measure up. We can start to believe that if we could have performed better, that person would still like us. However, often, the betrayal has nothing to do with us. The truth is sometimes our feelings can be wrong, which is why feelings are not good leaders but good followers. We may have genuinely believed we made the right decision for whom we brought into our lives, but as this psalm implies, are flesh may fail. But even though we may fail, God can never and will never fail.
The right relationships can be incredible, and we were designed to need others; however, while waiting for those godly relationships, God is near us. No matter how good that relationship was, it was never the source of your grace, love, truth, strength, and faith. Your relationship with the creator of the universe is what brings you contentment. No friend can give you that because they were not designed to provide you with that; that is not to discount the joy another person can bring you but to remind you that no matter how many friends you do or do not have, you will never have peace unless you cling to God first. During this unsettling time, seek peace from the one who is your ultimate protector and provider, Jesus.
Prayer: God, we want to repent the times we have put others on a pedestal and forgotten about you. We pray to come to you first for our peace. We also pray for the right people to come into our lives to help us grow, laugh and enjoy this life we are blessed to live. Amen.
