A Self-Image Attached to God预览
Reunited
We see God longing to walk with us again. It’s a picture of the complete restoration of our original design. God’s original design for our bodies is that we walk, talk, and live in union with Him. He is our God, and we are His people.
As believers, we know this, yet we often choose to walk this body image road without Him. It’s almost as though we view God as the old parent who isn’t with the times, when He’s the only one we should be running to, to restore our original design.
I’ve yet to meet a woman who has never faced a moment in life when she felt her body had let her down. Why is it that we have an easy time receiving God’s grace in our spirits but when it comes to our bodies… we are often at war? Perhaps we need to step back and remember that our bodies are not the enemy. Your body is a gift from God. Let me say that again: Your body is a gift from God.
That, my friends, is the most comforting news. This need to strive for perfection in order to show up for God is gone. In union with Christ, we have been brought to fullness. I recognize that we live in a fallen world that makes it challenging to rest in this truth, but meditate on His unfailing love. Rest in the fact that God is pursuing a relationship with you right where you are in your body. Right now.
Pray: God, I want to walk and talk with You on this body image journey. Thank You for always coming to find me when I hide. I open my heart to You today. I trust You. Please forgive me for rejecting my body. I want to restore union with You and my body. In Jesus’ name, amen.
