Amplify in the Dawn - Living the Lord's Prayer预览
LIVING EXPECTANTLY
WORD
You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine. In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord will keep me safe. - Psalm 4:7–8
THOUGHT
David, the writer of this Psalm, reveals a threefold outcome from his trust in the Lord: joy greater than the abundance of material things, safety or security from whatever would endanger him, and peace, the most sought-after treasure of heart and soul.
Worldly recipes and tactics to bring peace, wealth, power, and reputation, are to no avail. God alone—with his unlimited wisdom, power, and resources—is capable of delivering genuine peace. He alone is capable of fending off the wiles of the evil one, and he alone is worthy of our complete trust.
Because of God’s goodness and power, and because we are his children, we can live expectantly, knowing that he holds us, provides for us and gives us a joy that is greater than anything this world can offer. David’s experience of trusting the Lord can also be our experience—if we will place ourselves before and within the care of Almighty God.
PRAYER - But rescue us from the evil one.
Father, when I think of you and all you have done for me, my heart fills with joy, for whom have I in Heaven but you? Who but you, Lord Jesus, can bring peace, the result of your perfect and eternal provision? When I genuinely rest, it is because of my trust in you. I choose today to trust in you alone, for you alone can deliver me from the evil one. Amen.
