Give What You Have

Over the next few days, I want to get a bit more practical. How can you pour into others when you feel empty? What does that look like in your everyday life?

Some people think that to give requires this grand gesture and immeasurable gift. Truth is, the smallest act of service to another is incredibly valuable as well. Hebrews 13:16 says to give what you have--that’s it!

Maybe it’s paying for the groceries of the woman behind you in checkout who has her hands full with some excited kids. Or perhaps it’s giving someone a ride to church or school. There was a six-month period in my early twenties that my car broke down for good and I wasn’t in a place to get a new one. Those who offered to give me rides to work and church were heroes in my book. It was a blessing I couldn’t thank them enough for!

Today, find the smallest act of kindness that you can show to another. Leave some extra coins at the laundromat. Offer to watch a friend’s child so they can take a quick nap! Send a quick text of encouragement to someone you know. Your act of service has no guidelines or restrictions--you just do what you can!

If you feel tired and worn out, be encouraged to know that you don’t have to make an extravagant act to pour into someone. You have something to offer to this world! Give what you can give today, no matter how small, and it will be used for His glory.
