Rerouting

25天中的第10天

When you think of a valley, what comes to mind? Death Valley in California is known for its incredible heat and lack of life. The Waipi’o Valley in Hawaii is less known, but it is filled with lush vegetation and ocean views. While they may have the same name, no two valleys are the same. Some are beautiful. Some are harsh. But all hold a small secret: they have their own form of protection. The hills and cliffs in many valleys form a natural barrier against winds and storms. What can look for some like a frightening stop on their journey could actually turn out to be beneficial. That isn’t to say that all valleys have their silver linings. Some are so dark that we find ourselves stuck inside them for years, unable to see any sort of light to lead us through. But even in the darkest valley, we don’t have to fear. We don’t have to sit alone in our discomfort, believing that we’re at the end of our journey. For us, the valley isn’t the final destination but just a stop along the way. And sometimes, when we’re in the valley, we can take advantage of having to stay in one place to remind ourselves of the One who brings us comfort. Read Psalm 23 out loud to yourself. Take your time as you read to truly let the words sink in. Are there any particular words that bring you comfort?
