Solomon Builds the Temple

King David was not allowed by the Lord to build the temple because he “had too much blood on his hands.” But the Lord told David that his son, Solomon, would complete that task. So David said to Solomon, “Now, my son, the Lord be with you, so that you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God, as he has spoken concerning you. Only, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God. Then you will prosper if you are careful to observe the statutes and the rules that the Lord commanded Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Fear not; do not be dismayed” (1 Chronicles 22:11–13). For the next seven years, thousands of people worked to construct the temple in Jerusalem, known as Solomon’s temple.

The point of the original monarchy found in 1 and 2 Samuel, illustrates that from the beginning.
