DON’T LET YOUR PAST RUIN YOUR RESTORATION!

In today’s reading, David calls Mephibosheth from Lo Debar, a barren and desolate place, to his royal palace to eat at his table. Mephibosheth is the most unlikely person to receive such grace; he’s lame in both feet, and he’s in the family of King Saul, a man who was fiercely jealous of David and who tried to kill him on several occasions. Instead of retaliating, David extends kindness to Mephibosheth. Years earlier, David made a covenant with Jonathon, Mephibosheth’s father, to show kindness to all his descendants. So, Mephibosheth is called to the king’s table because of a covenant! In verses 7-11, David restores all the land and wealth that originally belonged to Jonathan back to his son, Mephibosheth. Everything Mephibosheth lost was restored to him by the king!

The good news is that the King of Kings is still in the restoration business! Jesus can take the jangling discords of life and create a beautiful symphony of hope and healing. He can take what looks dead and resurrect it back to new life. He can take the broken pieces of our messed-up lives and create something far beyond anything we could have ever imagined possible. The table is set. The King has extended his invitation. Will you leave Lo Debar and come to the King’s table? Restoration awaits you as you surrender to Jesus Christ and receive His blessings today!

PERSONAL REFLECTION: The same power that raised Jesus from the dead dwells in every Christian believer (Rom. 8:11)! No matter how circumstances may knock us down, we can always get back up through the power that dwells in us!
