Reclaiming Mindfulness: Meditating & Staying Grounded预览
The Highest Form of Meditation
Bible meditation is the highest form of meditation because the Word is light and we are lighted the entrance of God’s Word, empowering us to be the light of the world, functioning from a realm far above the natural mind (Psalm 119:130; 1 Thessalonians 5:5).
Bible meditation involves studying and pondering God's Word or making God's Word the object of your attention. Meditating on God’s Word will empower you to become one with the Word. You do not need to become one with nature because you are master over nature (Genesis 9:1-4). God’s will is for you to become one with Him, the creator of nature (1 John 3:2; 1 John 4:17).
Joshua 1:8 (KJV) says, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Meditating day and night also means letting the Word guide your decisions all day long.
When we meditate on God’s Word, we learn the language of grace, comfort, and peace (Colossians 4:6) and proclaim or reveal it to those who are hurting. That’s is how we exhale supernatural loving-kindness, mercy, and love. When you meditate on the Word, you will no longer tolerate thoughts God does not think towards you. When you meditate on the Word, you will begin to think God's truth concerning you (Jeremiah 29:11; Philippians 4:8) This is the key to peace and wholeness, freedom from anxiety, depression, etc. Meditating on God's truth is the true loving-kindness meditation the world needs!
Meditation Postures
The posture that empowers and transforms life is the posture of humility. Your humble heart is all God requires, and there are times your outer or physical posture will reflect the state of your heart.
In other words, take up natural postures with a humble heart. A humble heart is a heart focusing on God, seeking and believing God, delighting in God's way, and yielding to God. You do not need a tree pose, goat pose, or cat pose. Just position your heart to know God and hear from God.
Meditation can take place indoors or outdoor in a quiet place (Genesis 24:63; Isaiah 30:15). Just start from somewhere. By the power of the Holy Spirit and the living Word in us, we can meditate anywhere and anytime.
Let’s take deep breaths, be grounded, and meditate because the Bible teaches us to do these things. If any activity does not bring our awareness to God the creator of the universe, we are worshipping golden calves- ourselves and creation.
