A Time to Sow: Part 2预览
Everything Starts with a Seed
Everything starts as a seed – every idea, dream, and achievement. The largest trees – giant sequoia (measuring at 397 feet tall) – and the smallest flowers – watermeal (the size of a sprinkle) – all started as seeds. The most renowned structures in our world, from the Taj Mahal to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, started as concepts. Before something remarkable can sprout, a seed has to be planted.
When God created the world, we see how He designed the seed principle. Genesis 1:11 says, “Let the earth have seed-bearing plants and let trees bear fruit with seeds in them. Then, let those seeds produce the same kind of plants and trees that they came from. So, the earth was filled with seed-bearing vegetation.” If nurtured correctly, seeds can be powerful.
We can each play an essential role in contributing to the beauty and fruition of the Kingdom of God when we are willing to plant the seeds He has placed in our lives. In Matthew 13:31 to 32, Jesus describes how the Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed that a man plants in his field. Jesus said, “Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” The harvest from the seed not only benefits the individual who planted the seed but those around it.
Once again, in Matthew, Jesus uses the illustration of a mustard seed, describing how small but powerful the seed is. “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you” (Matthew 17:20). God may have placed a seed in your life that seems minuscule. Yet, when you plant it and nurture it, you begin to see its power.
Right now is the perfect time to sow the seeds (dreams or ideas) God has given you. However, you have to recognize that you can’t just hold those seeds in your hand. You must plant them. It requires taking steps of faith to accomplish everything He is calling you to do. Everything you are doing currently should be in preparation for that harvest. Just remember, once the seed is planted, you have to continue to tend to it.
