[Life Of David] The Bigger They Are The Harder They Fall预览
Focus On The Real Battle
David encountered a close battle with his older brother Eliab, but he did not linger there. He knew what he had to do. So he turned from his brother beside him to the others in front of him. He turned from his brother and said, “I’m going to go this direction, and I’m going to fight the battle.” He focused on the real battle at hand.
Something will always try to get our eyes off the real battle. The distraction may come from our very own family and friends. We can find problems in families all throughout the Bible. Jesus said in the Bible that a man’s foes shall be in his own household. David had a problem in his own family. Moses was criticized by his brother and his sister. We see even in the life of Jesus that His brothers did not believe in Him.
David had his eyes on the real battle. We, too, must not focus on distractions, things that want to get our attention. We need our eyes to be on the real battle. What happens when a team goes through a struggle and takes their eyes off the real battle? They start fighting one another and they lose. So, the Israelites were afraid of Goliath; they started fighting over who they thought could win. Eliab could not beat Goliath, but he felt he could beat up on his little brother a bit. So, David said, “I am going to focus on the real battle at hand.”
How many times in your life have you been distracted from your real battle, the one against your giant, by the little close battles that come up with relatives or friends? When this happens, remember, focus on the real battle ahead! That is where the real victory is. God has been preparing you to kill your giant. Do not lose focus.
