A Week Full of Thanksgiving预览
Day Seven
The apostle Paul frequently writes about faith being rooted and established in God’s infinite love.
Mind you. Paul is not talking about some flimsy root system where a tree bowls over whenever a storm or tempest blows. Instead, he is sharing about a root system that goes deep regarding both our intellectual knowledge and first-hand experience of God’s love. Both in the power and presence of the Holy Spirit and the authority of His Word. These roots enable the tree to stand firm no matter how violent, harsh, or unrelenting the winds of adversity are.
This type of faith has as its marker – abounding praise.
No, not flimsy, shallow thanksgiving, but effusive, extra-ordinary, over-the-top, excessive, overflowing worship. Gulp.
Do I live in that kind of faith, choosing to trust Him over fear or worry? Deciding to believe His Word over the enemy’s whispers? Do I eagerly surrender all my concerns into His more than-capable hands?
The Scriptures speak of a sweet, never-ending cycle. Trusting Jesus brings peace and joy. Peace and joy bubble over into thanksgiving and praise. Offering thanksgiving and praise for all He has done encourages my faith. My faith releases heaven’s bounty and the demise of the enemy’s work in my life.
And if what I am going through currently still seems dim and not entirely clear, the Holy Spirit will take me to the next level of trust, rejoicing, and faith because I am resting in the certainty that His grace is more than sufficient, and He is at work.
Today, let’s meditate upon and revel in God’s beyond-reason love, surrendering our every care to Him and letting our thanksgiving abound.
