Catechism: Broken Mirrors预览

Your body is more than a container for your soul: God made you a holistic creature, which means your mind, emotions, and body are completely intertwined and connected. Our bodies are an integral part of who we are!
We see these connections all the time. We exercise and feel the mood-lifting power of our endorphins. We share a meal with family and friends and feel connected to them. We take a hike through beautiful scenery, and it calms and inspires us. These examples show us that our physical, emotional, and spiritual health aren’t separate at all! What we do with our bodies matters to God! We have a choice to use our bodies in harmful ways or in ways that are honoring to Him.
Read 1 Corinthians 6:12-20
Reflection Questions
- According to this passage, what are some reasons why God cares about what we do with our bodies? How are our emotions and spirit affected by how we treat or use our bodies?
- Paul says that sexual sin affects the body in a way that’s different from any other sin. What do you think he means by that? How have you seen this to be true?
- Spend some time in prayer asking God to show you how to treat your body well and use it for his glory. If God is showing you an area of sin in your life, confess it to Him and receive His forgiveness. Allow Him to begin healing you.
