Evangelism: Sharing the Good News预览
God doesn't need us to evangelize
I finished yesterday by saying we need to share the good news. While we will do this for our own sakes (so that we're not miserly with the gospel); we must realize that God can save people with or without us. Jesus is God becoming man, in order to bring us the gospel, the message of salvation through Him.
The good news is God's; we're just the messengers! The Kingdom of heaven belongs to Jesus; we're just His subjects. Jesus is ultimately the one who binds up the brokenhearted; we just seek to assist Him in His work and point broken people (aren't we all?!) to Him.
Only Jesus can set captives of sin free by His Holy Spirit. We can still guide those who are captives to sin, towards God: so that they might cry out to Him! Those bound by sin need to be released in a way that only Jesus can do. All we do is make Him known to spiritual prisoners.
Jesus stopped quoting Isaiah's passage as the 'year of the Lord's favor' because that's what His first Advent was. But a day of vengeance is coming, which is why we have to warn people to receive the gospel before it's too late! God could send angels to proclaim the gospel, but He's chosen us, and we are to be faithful. (1 Corinthians 4:2)
Are you ever tempted to think that evangelism depends on you?
'Father God, thank You for Jesus. May we trust in Him rather than our efforts for our salvation, for the honor of His name, Amen.'

Evangelism: the very word strikes fear into the hearts of many ordinary Christians. We often might have a legalistic sense of duty to do it; but isn't evangelism just for those unusual people who are gifted at it? This plan seeks to reclaim evangelism as the sharing of good news that can be delightful rather than daunting!
