Life Not Going as Planned? How to Get Unstuck and Trust God Now!预览
Can you imagine going off on a foreign missions trip, and returning to find your house burned to the ground, and your spouse and children missing? David and his men had gone off to battle, and when they returned home, they discovered that their entire town, Ziklag, was burned. Not only had they lost their homes, but also their wives and children had been taken.
A situation like this is bad enough, but when your men start to place the blame on you as the leader, it becomes even harder. David was just as distressed as his men; his wife and children were gone, too. Now his men wanted to stone him. Have you ever found yourself in a greatly distressing situation?
What did David do? He encouraged himself in the Lord his God. When you are in that situation, when you are stuck in the horrible pit of the miry clay and there is no way out, the more you struggle the deeper you will sink. The only way out is by relying on someone else, and that is exactly what David did. He encouraged himself by putting his reliance on God.
There are going to be times in your life when you are not going to have someone come and put an arm around you and encourage you. It would be nice if that happened, but there are many times in life when it will not. So, what do you do? May I suggest that you do what David did – encourage yourself in the Lord. You are not alone. You are not in a hopeless situation. Aren’t you glad that there is a great and powerful God Who can pull you up out of the horrible pit and set you on a rock? Many problems will discourage you, but encourage yourself in the Lord.
Action: Memorize Psalm 118:8-9 or Proverbs 18:10 today.
