When God Speaks: What to Expect预览
When God Speaks: What To Expect I
We all need to develop an appetite for hearing God’s voice. However, to recognize God’s voice and be led by God’s Spirit, we must take the posture of obedience that we see in 1 Samuel 3:1-14. It is a posture of obedience; the posture of an obedient heart that says I resolve in advance to do whatever you tell me to do. I resolve in advance to follow your leading even when I do not understand it. I resolve in advance to walk on water when I hear you say come. Psalm 27:8 “My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” The objective of this plan is to show you what will happen when you hear God’s voice, thus whetting your appetite and creating a hunger in you to hear His voice.
When God speaks to you and as you are led by the Spirit of God, expect that All Your Needs Will Be Met. I know we sometimes struggle believing that all our needs can be or should be met. Doubting God’s promises is the fastest route to poverty. What about the place of suffering in the life of a Christian? When that is the case, you will know that God is taking you through a patch. But that will not be the story of your life from beginning to the end.
Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” In other words, because I hear His voice, I have all that I need. So, will everyone have their needs met? Unfortunately, the answer is, no, not everyone will and it traces back to the posture of obedience. God says in Deuteronomy 15:4 “There should be no poor among you, for the Lord your God will greatly bless you in the land he is giving you as a special possession.” And this is God’s heart for His people. However, several verses after in Deuteronomy 15:11 God says, “There will always be some in the land who are poor. That is why I am commanding you to share freely with the poor and with other Israelites in need.” Is this a contradiction? Not at all. God is simply saying, some people will not align with God’s instruction [God’s direction], and as such, will not experience having all their needs met.
Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.” When I do not have all that I need, then I need to check who my shepherd is because there is no way you would walk with God in obedience and then be stranded - absolutely and totally impossible! The challenge most times we hear God, is that we do not obey God. Therefore, when you hear and obey God, because of this, as you are led by God’s Spirit, all your needs will be met. Psalm 23:1 “Yahweh is my best friend and my shepherd. I always have more than enough.”
Shepherd of my soul, I give You full control; Wherever You may lead I will follow. I have made the choice to listen for Your voice; Wherever You may lead I will go. Be it in a quiet pasture or by a gentle breeze, The shepherd of my soul is by my side. Should I face a mighty mountain or a valley dark and deep; The shepherd of my soul will be my guide
