Moving Mountains预览
Day 6: Moving Mountains
Psalm 118:28 “You are my God, and I will thank you; you are my God, and I will praise your greatness.” (NCV).
The fourth indispensable mustard seed of faith that we need to plant is gratitude. Nothing is more powerful than thanksgiving. It changes your perspective. I challenge you to write ten things you are thankful for about areas in your life that you may not be happy with. Then put it side by side whatever it is you are not too happy about and your perspective will begin to change. God helps us see things we need to be grateful for, so sit with Him and He will help you see. As we begin to thank God, our perspective starts to change, and the mountains will move.
Romans 11:33: “Oh, what a wonderful God we have! How great are his wisdom and knowledge and riches!" (TLB).
It has been scientifically proven that being grateful helps our physical health. Gratitude also improves relationships. Gratitude changes even how we see the mountains in our lives. In fact, the mountains no longer look like mountains when you spend time thanking God. The mountain may be an exam, a career decision, a relationship, or it may be a health situation. When we stay in a place of gratitude and thank God, we begin to see as God sees. When you choose to focus on what you are grateful for, your perspective changes.
Many of the things I am doing today, I had to believe that they could happen even when it looked impossible. If failure were not an option, what would you believe God for? Jesus says, think big—beyond yourself, but start small by planting the mustard seeds of faith, of listening to God [paying attention], praying [asking God for what you need], forgiving, and offering the mustard seed of gratitude.
Then when you speak to the mountain, it will move because you are not speaking to the mountain in your strength or with your own words. Thanksgiving has corrected your perspective. Forgiveness has dissolved the mountain in your heart. Listening to God has put you in the right place and put God's Word—Truth—into your heart.
Meditation: What would you like to talk to God about based on today’s study?
