His Mighty Strength (Randy Frazee)

I live with the acute awareness of my weakness. I live with the reminder that if I take my gaze from God and trust in my own strength, I am susceptible to another freefall. I don’t want to go back down to that place again. The apostle Paul was aware of his weakness and on three occasions asked God to take it from him. He recorded God’s gentle whisper back to him:

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is make perfect in weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Paul eventually stopped praying for his weakness to be removed and instead made this declaration:

Therefore, I will boast all the more and gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. . . For when I am weak, then I am strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9–10)

My current state of empowerment doesn’t come from self-sufficiency. With Paul, I can testify, “I can do all this through [Christ] who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). This truth keeps me tethered to God daily. I hope you feel the same way.

I trust that you are reaching out for the power that is available to you, and that you want what God is offering. I pray you are allowing hope a chance to take root in your heart, to believe that things can and will be different for you. This is the turn that will point you in a new direction. You will be facing true north and it will lead you upward. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Let’s commit together to keep going and keep moving forward in faith. The principles Jesus taught and lived will progressively move us upward to a more empowered life.
