Vessel of Honor 预览
Clean Up Your Speech
Be a vessel of honor and not of dishonor. Stay away from alcohol and pornography. Stay away from cursing and negative conversation; they defile you.
Cursing is a big problem for this generation. An AP poll showed that 62% of 18-to-34-year-olds acknowledge swearing at least a few times a week. Timothy Jay, author of Why We Curse, reports that in America the average adolescent uses 80 to 90 swear words a day. This generation is becoming known as the f-word generation. You can hardly watch a movie where the f-word is not said or inferred multiple times.
We have taken the holy, the pure, the godly, the wonderful, the creation of sexuality as one of God’s apexes for a man and woman to enjoy together in holy matrimony, the apex of love, and we’ve turned it into the mundane, the defiled, and the debauched. That is not right. It is not okay to talk that way. When we allow cursing and negative conversation into our lives, people hear what is profane coming from a vessel meant to honor God.
God uses love, grace, and the circumstances of life to form us into a vessel to carry His glory to a hurting world. Our responsibility, as stewards, is to protect this vessel so we can have a pure flow from heaven to minister to others. We must keep ourselves free from the corruption, pollution, defilement, and dung of this world. Wouldn’t it be awful if someone heard you use the f-word, and then you tried to witness to them about Jesus Christ? Allow God to sanctify you. You want to be able to say, “I represent the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, who is holy above all holiness—Jesus!”
Next time you feel like saying a curse word, stop. Remind yourself, “No, somebody's listening to me. I’m going to have a grandson or a granddaughter someday who will hear my speech. I don’t want it to be defiled. I want to be a vessel of honor. “
If you are struggling with your speech, pray to be made clean. Say, “Jesus, I want to be a vessel of honor. I want my life to reflect You to this world. Help me, Jesus. Sanctify me, cleanse me, wash me, and use me to change the world.”

God molds us to be vessels of honor, carrying God’s glory in jars of clay, but many things can take a believer toward a vessel of dishonor. These things include alcohol and substance abuse, pornography and premarital sex, and cursing and defiled conversation. This devotional plan will help you, as a vessel of honor, carry the glory of God.
