Two Weeks of Praying Grace预览
Faithful and True
I saw heaven opened. And there was a white horse. He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. (Revelation 19:11 MEV)
The full, traditional title of the book of Revelation is “The Revelation of Jesus Christ.” Setting aside all the difficulty and debate over the interpretation of this mysterious, final book of the Bible, we can be certain of one thing: in it we see the post-resurrection Jesus revealed in new and fuller dimensions.
One particularly striking portrait of the risen King is found in chapter 19: “His eyes are like a flame of fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written, that no one knows but He Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood. His name is called The Word of God” (Revelation 19:12–13 MEV).
In Revelation 19, we have the reigning, ruling King Jesus leading His Kingdom armies forth as they make His enemies—sickness, oppression, injustice, lack, and all the other effects of the curse—a footstool for His feet. Yet in this fiercely vivid description, the first thing we learn of this awe-inspiring rider with many crowns is what He is called:
Faithful and True.
What a wonderful thing to keep in mind as we follow our Savior-King day by day, moment by moment. The object of our worship is faithful. The One into whose hands we have placed our lives is true.
He is the victorious, overcoming, conquering King, and we walk in His victory. We are not striving to overcome. We are in, and of, the One who has already overcome. And through His body—His people on earth—He is extending and expanding His rule: “of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end” (see Isaiah 9:7).
Prayer of Declaration:
Jesus, I rejoice in Your conquest of sin, death, Satan, and the curse. Because I am in You and You in me, I rest in Your victory. Most of all, I thank You that You are called “Faithful and True.” I call You that, too. My trust is wholly in You today.
I declare that Your enemies are defeated and fleeing in my life. Sickness, oppression, injustice, lack, and all the other effects of the curse are becoming a footstool for Your feet. I follow You moment by moment today, for You are faithful and true.
