Moving Beyond Where I Am Stuck预览
DAY TWO: Get directions.
Have you ever gotten lost on the way to a new friend’s house and had to call them for better directions on how to get there? I don’t know about you, but even with the route mapped out on my phone, I still manage to take a wrong turn or allow distractions to cause me to miss the right turn. Asking someone for help and admitting my weak sense of direction can feel pretty uncomfortable, but if I want to get where I’m going, I have to swallow my pride and choose to be vulnerable with other people.
The same is true in our faith. We are all on this journey to a destination we can’t really wrap our minds around and we all need a little help at different points along the way. Sometimes we allow ourselves to get distracted by the wrong things while other times we fall into a false sense of security that causes us to move confidently in the wrong direction. Either way, we end up stuck, and unless we admit our wrongdoing, we won’t be able to move beyond and access the “immeasurably more” that God has for us.
Don’t believe the lie that says we will be condemned for being weak. First, our weaknesses are what allow God’s strength to be seen. Second, being vulnerable and admitting we need some help always leads to greater levels of freedom. Confessing our sins out loud and shining a light into the dark places is where healing and restoration can be found. It might not feel comfortable at first, but it’s the only way we can move beyond and get where we’re going.
Ask the Holy Spirit, the Light who lives in you, to illuminate to you any areas that need to be healed in you and invite your trusted friends or family members to pray with you that you may be able to move beyond it in Jesus’ name.
