The Blessing of God’s Provision

God promised to bless His people with abundance and provide everything they needed. He kept this promise over the 40 years during which they wandered through the wilderness after their exodus from Egypt. He provided water for them in the desert and manna and quail for food. In Deuteronomy 29:5, the Lord says: “I have led you forty years in the wilderness. Your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandals have not worn out on your feet.”

You can still rely on the blessing of God’s provision today. Jesus promised in His Sermon on the Mount that we need not worry about what to eat or wear (see Matt. 6:25–34). As God provides for the birds and the flowers of the field, so shall He also care for His children. We are, after all, more important to Him than birds and flowers.

Every child of God is on the receiving end of His blessings—but sometimes things are just so difficult for us that we forget to count our blessings. That is the very best thing you can do when life has turned its back on you, because the person who has learned to count their blessings in times of adversity has discovered the secret of how to be truly happy. Stop taking your blessings for granted and rather be intensely conscious of every blessing in your life, every day.

You also need never be worried about the future. God knows precisely what you need and if you put His kingdom first, He will provide everything that you need (see Matthew 6:25–34). Trust Him to indulge you with the blessings of His provision.

Prayer

Father, how good You are to me, providing me with everything I need in abundance! Help me to always place Your kingdom first. Amen.
