7 Days Of Preparing For Great Exploits预览
Day 7: Go Out and Do Great Exploits!
God in His sovereignty has deliberately chosen every one of us to carry out great and mighty works, but it is always up to us to to choose to do them. Such was the case for David and his mighty men.
Samuel lists the men who came to David as he was running away from Saul. The Bible says in 1 Samuel 22:1-2:
"David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father’s household heard about it, they went down to him there. And those who were in distress or in debt or discontented gathered around him, and he became their commander."
These men were loyal, powerful heroes who stood out.
They were warriors whom the people feared—and rightly so. For example:
- Adino the Eznite killed 800 soldiers at one time.
- Eleazar, the son of Dodo, arose and struck the Philistines until his hand was weary and it clung to his sword.
- Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, went down and killed a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day. He also took the spear from an Egyptian and killed him with his own spear.
These men were armed with bows. They were able to shoot arrows or sling stones right-handed or left-handed. Their faces were fierce like the faces of lions, and they were as swift as gazelles in the mountains. There were 700 select troops of similar prowess, each of whom could sling a stone at a hair and not miss.
David's mighty men did mighty exploits!
I believe that, just as God ordained every moment in the lives of these great men of the Bible, He wants to use YOUR life just as powerfully. The Word declares, "But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you" (Romans 8:11).
I grew up as the baby in a family of twelve. I was so shy that I would cry every time someone asked me to get up and sing in front of people.
I never knew:
- That I would be the one to stand in front of literally 750,000 people in Africa and minister through music, as people from all over came to a Gospel concert;
- That I would go to the nations of the earth via satellite to minister in front of multiplied millions;
- That I would have the dream-like opportunity to sing in front of presidents, vice-presidents, prime ministers, and dignitaries from around the world for Uganda’s 50th year Jubilee;
- That I would have the honor to visit nearly 60 nations ministering the Gospel of Christ.
All of these things stand out in my life as memorials. I can look back upon these memories and see where God has been so faithful. Despite all these things, one day the greatest of all rewards will be able to hear my Father say, "Well done, My good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of the Lord" (Matthew 25:23).
We have to put our hand to the plow, and we can't stop until Jesus comes back.
We have been commissioned to labor in His vineyard; to see that the Lamb receives the reward of His suffering.
Will we pray? Will we seek? Will we go and do the MIGHTY EXPLOITS? My heart is to hear the commissioning voice of the Lord, as Isaiah did; and, like him, to respond, "Here am I! Send me" (Isaiah 6:8).
How about you? Will you labor for Christ along with me? Don't wait; start today. Jesus has already commissioned you, so go forth and do great exploits!
