Overwhelmed by My Blessings: Encouragement for Moms (Part 11)预览
Before I was married and way before having kids I spent some time working in retail at our local mall. This was in the “olden” days before electronic cash registers. Without a digital reading telling the amount to give back following a purchase, I had to know how to count back change. At closing time each day the cash receipts in my register had to be reconciled with the cash left in the drawer. Whatever was missing at the end of the day had to be accounted for. We were even taught how to handle a “short-changer”, a customer adept at confusion and trying to receive back more money than they should. Because of that, I always had a nervous anticipation and anxious hope that my cash drawer would reconcile correctly and I wouldn’t be responsible for missing dollars.
You and I have a “short-changer” working daily in our lives, hoping to distract us and keep us a little confused. He is very skilled and practiced at using our circumstances, our thoughts, and especially our relationships to steal bits of our peace and joy through the day. He’s hoping our “drawer” will come up empty and that sin will have won.
The great news is that we have a Reconciler! He knows our shortcomings and paid the ultimate price to make us perfectly whole and complete. We don’t have to live in fear or nervous anticipation that our sins will be counted against us. Our “drawers”, our hearts, are always complete because of Him. I have been reconciled with Christ! I am one with Him. Even when the enemy shortchanges me, Jesus still makes up the difference.
When we climb into bed after a hard day of momming, we can rest in this. What a relief! What peace.
Father, thank You for loving me so much that You chose to make me whole and complete by reconciling all my shortcomings with Your grace. Thank You that You continue to make up for my failures each day as I make my way through this life, loving me with Your everlasting love. I stand with You against the enemy who is out to shortchange me, bringing confusion to my mind. Thank You for your faithfulness. I trust You, I believe You, and I know You are more than enough!
