Jesus knew that Jerusalem was a dangerous place for Him to go. The Jewish leaders, the Pharisees and the Sadducees, were very unhappy with him. Jesus had broken so many rules! He challenged the authority of the Jewish leaders who had made up rules for the Jews to follow. Jesus offered the people a new kind of Kingdom - a heavenly one. Even though the Pharisees were angry at Jesus, the people were excited to see Him. Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem, and people greeted him and said "Hosanna!" while they waved palm branches. This fulfilled an Old Testament prophecy about the Messiah. God's promises were coming true - He had sent a Messiah to save His people from their sin.
