HIS HAND BINDS

Read Isaiah 42:5-9. We are bound to Jesus and He is bound to us in covenant.

The Lord gives us a picture of this in the relationship between David and King Saul's son Jonathan. Jonathan binds himself to David as his covenant partner. Read 1 Samuel 18:1-4. What happens to Jonathan's heart? And how is his affection for David described? What does Jonathan give to David? Think of Jonathan's initiative with David as a picture of Christ's relationship with you and how that might impact you.

God is sovereign and almighty. Even now His right hand sustains us. David understands this. He receives God's power and might just as he received the provision from Jonathan.

As a response of faith, David clings to the Lord, believing that God will sustain him (Psalm 63:8). Clinging is a choice, an action that depends upon God. He knows that it is only by God's power and grace that he is able to cling to the Lord at all.

So what does clinging or cleaving look like in our everyday life?

1. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness.

2. Become One. Bond with the Lord in His Word and in prayer.

3. Follow Him in His Word; take it with you and apply it.

4. Walk with Him. Keep in step with the Spirit and keep your heart pure.

5. Abide in Him. Trust in Him and His Word.

May you believe God, trust Him, and hold fast to Him, knowing He will do it. May you always know the strength of your Father's right hand.
