The Morning Hunt – Day Nine – Taken
When a mother lion loses her cub or has it taken by a predator, she wails and roars for days, looking for that lost cub. She will even neglect to eat to continue her search. Lions are the only cats with a social structure, resulting in lifelong bonds. When a member of the Pride is lost or taken from them, it has the potential to change the structure of that Pride going forward. Sometimes, a mother loses her cub because it is killed by an outside male lion who came in and took over her Pride.
For whom are we weeping? Who do you know that is going to hell? Does it pain us enough to fast for the lost? Many we know have been taken by the enemy; let us not take that in stride. Being a man is not about being able to protect loved ones and territories physically because there is always someone who is stronger, more equipped, or has greater numbers than us. The protection we bring is a vigilance, a soberness, and a greater interest in the community than we have for our own individual interests.
What happens when one of our own wanders off? Are we aware that outsiders with evil intentions exist? Those outsiders can look just like us. Sometimes, our young people and our young believers are not mature enough to ignore their curiosities that lure them away from the community. Weep for the lost. Pray for the lost. Fast for the lost. Protect the Pride.
2 Timothy 3:5-6 NLT - 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! 6 They are the kind who work their way into people’s homes and win the confidence of[a] vulnerable women who are burdened with the guilt of sin and controlled by various desires.
Matthew 13:24-25 NLT - 24 Here is another story Jesus told: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. 25 But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away.
Psalm 126:4-6 MSG - And now, God, do it again— bring rains to our drought-stricken lives So those who planted their crops in despair will shout “Yes!” at the harvest, So those who went off with heavy hearts will come home laughing, with armloads of blessing.
1 Peter 5:8 NLT - Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.

Just as the lion is unique and designed to reign, so is God’s design for Manhood. The Morning Hunt is a 14-day Men’s Devotional that looks to teach valuable and practical lessons from a lion’s perspective.
