Clear Vision New Hope Devotional
Day One
2 Kings 6:15-16 (NLT) When the servant of the man of God got up early the next morning and went outside, there were troops, horses, and chariots everywhere. “Oh, sir, what will we do now?” the young man cried to Elisha. 16 “Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.
Reflection:
Has there ever been a morning when you woke up and felt surrounded by the unexpected with no immediate solution? The young man with Elisha felt overwhelmed by what he saw. Because of what he saw, he had reason to fear, but Elisha prayed that his eyes would be open to what Elisha knew. Elisha was confident that God would protect them, so he was not afraid.
On your faith journey, you will face situations that present the option to fear. However, choosing to be dominated by fear usually means one believes the worst will happen. Yet, faith in God provides the choice to trust God to work all things out for you, even if the outcome may be different than you planned. Trust is knowing God will work the good and bad out in your favor.
Response:
Open your eyes to the promises in His Word until His truth becomes yours.
Prayer:
Father God, open my eyes to see your good things for me. I receive the grace to trust you as my Advocate, Provider, Defender, Healer, and so much more. I believe it now by faith in the name of Jesus. Amen.
