Ending the Year on Purposeنمونہ
Soul (Mental/Emotional)
“Your emotional health won’t change how God shows up for you, but it might change how you show up for Him.” - Dr. Anita Phillips
The very essence of our being and life is our soul. It is the place where our mind, will, and emotions live. Emotional and mental health are vital as we quickly approach the year ahead. Many of us tolerate “stinkin’ thinkin’” as well as unhealthy emotional behaviors, and this could be the very thing that is hindering us from reaching the heights to which we desire to ascend. How do you care for your soul?
Jesus is the giver of rest, yet He uses various channels through which His rest flows to us. My trust and hope is not in the weekly pedicure, monthly counseling session, or girls’ night out. Matthew 11:28-30 reminds us that when we come to Jesus, we will find all the rest, care, and respite that our soul needs. Make space for soul care activities, but let’s remember that Jesus is the One giving our souls the rest they need so we put our trust in Him, not the activity itself.
Reflection:
In what ways might the Holy Spirit want you to pay closer attention to the way you care for your soul (mental and emotional) health?
What's one thing you can do today to live more purposefully in this area?

Adapted from The Last Thirty Devotional, this plan is a journey designed to challenge readers to end their year with greater purpose and intentionality. We will not wake up on New Year's Day and suddenly have better eating habits, relational habits, or work-related habits. We have to make intentional decisions today in order to see lasting change and truly experience a fulfilled life tomorrow.
